Ratner and Murphy Out, Grazer and Crystal In

Looks like Brett Ratner bigoted and sleeze-balled his way out of a job. According to Yahoo! Movies, the 42 year old Ratner has resigned from producing the 2012 Academy Awards after a week which saw him claiming rehearsing is, like, so gay and describing his magnificently disease (and kid) free sex life on the Howard Stern Show.

In a statement to the media (which you can read here), Ratner insinuates it was his decision to step-down from the job, but I have a feeling he was told there was no choice.

Also stepping-down is host Eddie Murphy, whose career has apparently NOT been resurrected by his starring in Ratner’s Tower Heist.

Climbing up on stage to replace Murphy (who really made a mistake pulling out of the show, I think. Tower Heist is a failure, and he could have shown that he still has what it takes to command a live audience on the Oscars) will be Billy Crystal, who has hosted the Academy Awards approximately 742 1/2 times. (In all seriousness, I’m excited about Crystal, but thought Murphy could have given the show a much needed edgy boost).

Pinch hitting for Ratner will be Brian Grazer, a guy who has produced a lot of things, most of them being boring movies.
